Delamere Charitable Trust held an online fun event on Sunday 7th February. Courtesy of Zoom, over 100 people enjoyed a mixture of entertainment, loosely inspired by the TV programme, Richard Osman’s House of Games.
Delamere’s own House of Games featured several amusing quiz games interspersed with stand-up comedy spots from Manchester Jewry’s popular Marilyn Berg, Elaine Joels performing one of her popular parody songs, and a variety of hilarious comedy videos.
Delamere Chair, Malcolm Joels, joked “We had a lot of fun searching for the videos and dreaming up fun questions. More seriously, we raised over £2,000 to fund our partner JSENSE’s valued directory of local expertise and support for Manchester Jewish children with learning disabilities. This result, which exceeded our best expectations, made the challenge of managing the presentation of complex content to a large Zoom audience very worthwhile.”
Mr Joels continued “The pandemic lockdown put a major spoke in our critical plans to build up our base of volunteers and supporters to ensure the charity’s future. The House of Games event was designed to maintain Delamere’s public profile with an imaginative event which would cheer people up! The money raised will help our partner provider, JSENSE, to improve and update its highly valued valued directory of local expertise and support for Manchester Jewish children with learning disabilities.”
